A bro of the subreddit r/fitness, started a very interesting thread recently discussing the portion of protein calories that eventually end up being used by your body for muscle growth. Why is this interesting? Well in short it gives you an idea of the amount of protein you need to consume daily to add to your muscle growth, depending on your level of exercise and goals. Here’s the original question and popular replies:
Protein adds to our calorie counts, but is also used in building muscle. How much of protein is used as energy, and how much goes to building muscle? Would it be correct to add some calories to a TDEE if a lot of it went to muscle growth / repair?
More will be added as the discussion evolves.
